About Claire

Claire Bennett edits the English guides at spain-hotels.net. She has spent the better part of fifteen years travelling Spain — from winter city breaks in Madrid to slow Augusts on the Costa Brava — and writes the kind of where-to-stay advice she wishes she had on her first trip.

Her focus is location over hype: which neighbourhood puts you a walk from the things you came for, when a beach town is worth the transfer, and where a parador beats a chain. Every hotel she points to is one she would map before booking herself.

Claire is not a booking agent and takes no payment for a stay. When a recommendation links to Booking.com, it is simply because that is where you will find live prices — nothing more.

How Claire works

  • Location first

The right neighbourhood matters more than the star rating. I say plainly where each hotel sits and what is walkable from the door.

  • Honest trade-offs

Beach or city, summer heat or shoulder season, splurge or value — I lay out the compromise instead of selling every option as perfect.

  • Map before you book

Every guide links straight to the interactive map and live Booking.com rates, so you can see exactly where you would be sleeping.
